Baby And You
This is a time for spouses to be very good to each other because with excitement that follows a birth comes stress and fatigue.
Make a sign: Ssssh! Baby and Mom are resting! and put it on your front/back door
Let your answering machine get your calls when you are bathing the baby or sleeping
Make a part of every day special for your spouse whether it’s a late dinner or a walk around the block.
Find some support, be it a friend who has a new baby or family member.

Baby Care
Make night-checking easier.
Put a dimmer on the nursery’s light switch and use a night light.
Coping with Crying
Walk or dance with the baby and you can also try different kinds of music
Take the baby for a ride in the carriage or car.
Put the baby in a wind-up swing.
Sing or talk to the baby quietly
Feed and burp the baby one more time, offer a pacifier.
Have A Ready To Go Bag
Keep a prepacked bag to grab as you go out the door with the baby. Stock it with diapers, an extra set of clothes, wipes, and a light blanket. Remember to restock your bag as soon as you return home so you’ll be ready for your next trip. You can put your personal items in the bag also or use a fanny pack freeing you of the need for a purse.
Well-Checkup Visits
Keep a notepad in a convenient place in your home to make notes of any questions you want to ask at your next baby’s visit to the Doctor and don’t be afraid to ask any question. It’s better than making a mistake.
Make written notes of any verbal instructions the Doctor give you, because what seems perfectly clear in the office may become less clear by the time you get home.
Be sure to keep a record of all the vaccinations, as most states require proof of proper immunizations for school and daycare attendance.
